Read with Me: Narwhal: Unicorn of the Sea

I FINALLY read the first book in the Narwhal series by Ben Clanton. I love this series SO MUCH. It’s a fun tail about our friends Narwhal and Jelly and the adventures they’re on, fun facts, and even a short comic. This series is perfect for kids aged 6-9!

What’s your favorite childhood book/book series?

Cheers bookish friends!

Favorite Books 2020

My favorite part of starting a new year is looking back and reflecting on the amazing books I read that year. In 2020 I read 27 books. 18 books alone were either 5 or 4 star books. I didn’t have a single 2 or 1 star books. This made for an excellent reading year, especially struggling during a pandemic.

Favorite Books of 2020

What are some of your favorite books of last year or this year so far?

Cheers bookish friends!

Welcome to 2021

Oops… it’s been a while. I didn’t realize the last time I posted on the blog was back in October of 2020 (BIG YIKES). However, I am back again! The end of 2020 was alright, but 2021 hasn’t been as kind. I quit my extremely toxic job and completely changed career fields in the meantime. Hopefully this brings back my love for reading instead of being sad and constantly burnt out all the time. To catch you up to speed here’s my 2021 Reading Goals. Don’t worry in two months you will see an update with the Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag haha.

2021 Reading Goals

I hope you enjoy all the videos and bookish goodness I’m about to catch you up on! 🙂 Cheers bookish friends!

Hoping to Accomplish: August

*Update: I didn’t realize that this post didn’t upload at the beginning of the month… but better late than never! I will follow up with stats and a wrap up in September.

Things I hope and want to accomplish in August include…

  • Read 800 pages
  • Complete 4 books
  • Organize and Track all my books and reading
  • Film 2 reading vlogs
  • Hopefully complete Midnight Sun

Read 800 pages

If I can read Midnight Sun and the rest of my TBR pile for August I think I can achieve this goal. But if I don’t finish Midnight Sun it looks like I’m going to have to pick up other books to complete this challenge. Then maybe I also won’t be so far behind in my Goodreads challenge either.

Complete 4 Books/August TBR

  • Narwhal by Ben Canton
  • Narwhal by Ben
  • Memories by Lang Leav
  • The Unleashed by Danielle Vega
  • Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

Organize and track all my books and reading statistics

I’m going to start being more religious about tracking my page count, what books I have, and book purchases this next month. This also gives me an excuse to make all the graphs and excel docs I can dream of!

Film 2 reading vlogs

Hopefully this will help with my other two goals this month (read 800 pages and complete 4 books). The more I have to produce content around actually picking up a book and reading will hopefully help with this goal.

Hopefully complete Midnight Sun

I just want to read and complete Midnight Sun this month. Enough said.

And that’s it for my goals I want to complete in August! Do you have any reading goals you want to accomplish in August? I can’t wait until September to see how much I accomplished!

August 8th: Under the Weather

And then I got sick. Bleh. Since Tuesday the 6th, I have been coming home from work taking a nap, being awake enough to eat dinner, and go back to sleep for the rest of the night in prep for the next day. After a few days, I’m finally getting back to feeling a bit better and more like myself. Right now my body doesn’t feel completely exhausted but now I have this wonderful cough and sore throat. 😦 But on the bright side, I should be back to reading today! I am feeling a bit better, I no longer have a headache, and I’m starting to clean to make sure whatever I have doesn’t spread to anyone else. Expect a reading update later today for today’s progress before the weekend begins!

August Daily Reading Goal

After the Reading Rush (previously The Booktubeathon) ended I’ve been on this reading high. But there has been this thought that I had throughout all of July that I’m going to do in August. That thought has turned into a goal I am challenging myself for the month of August is… Reading for 30 minutes EVERY SINGLE DAY.

I did this a lot in grade school, middle, and even high school. I remember vividly we always had the first 20ish minutes or so to read in one of my language art classes one year in high school and the number of books that I finished was at an all-time high. Since then community college never did anything like that. My adult job and day to day life don’t make me do that. So I thought what the heck let’s bring this back and see what happens.

My focus is to read all the books I own! Maybe not all, but most. The fall release season is fast approaching and I need to get my butt in gear if I want to catch up on series or just read older books that have been on my bookshelves the longest before I can buy any more books.

At the end of each daily blog post, I will most likely end with a chart of my reading progress. This will track the number of pages that I have read so far for the month of August! I’m so excited to get back into truly loving reading and defeat my TBR pile once and for all!
