Summer 2014 Reading Challenge

Summer 2014 Reading Challenge

My 6 Genre Challenge

The other day I came across a bookmark when I was cleaning my room. I looked it over and I thought this would be a perfect little challenge for my summer reading. I took six genres and thought of a book I would like to read at some point and time this summer. My list includes:

Choose a book from the following Genres:

-Mystery: Twisted by: Sara Shepard

-Sci-Fi: Shatter Me by: Tahereh Mafi

-Fantasy: Clockwork Princess by: Cassandra Clare

-Contemporary: My Life Next Door by: Huntley Fitzpatrick

-Adventure: The Maze Runner by: James Dashner

-Historical Fiction: Seeking Signs by: Staci Angelina Mercado
With those books in mind, hopefully I will get through all of them this summer. As of last night I decided to pick up Shatter Me. Now let the start of my genre challenge begin! You can also check out my video below of myself sharing some other reading challenges that I’m taking part of this summer.

Book Review: Clockwork Prince by: Cassandra Clare

Clockwork Prince is the second book in the series of The Infernal Devices. This 502 paged book leads off from where Clockwork Angel last left off. Let’s just get into the review.

My thoughts throughout the book drove me crazy. I seemed to find this book more negative rather than a positive. About half way through the book I began to get irritated. Tessa just pissed me off most of the time with her whole love triangle thing. I just felt like she couldn’t choose a side to which guy she wants to be with until

***Spoiler alert Jem proposes to her. Which was a let down. I never got a romance vibe from then until he proposed… which made the relationship a complete and total rush.

Also the last chapter of this book was just a pure let down. I really didn’t care for it and there really wasn’t anything special that I felt about it. I did however really enjoy the very last page that left me off with suspense that the final book (Clockwork Princess) could have an awesome ending to this series. One positive I did find with this book was the amount of detail she put into this book. For example in Chapter 9 on page 187 in the third paragraph, it is so detailed and I love that it gives you a true feeling of the era.

By the time that it is all said and done, this book did not impress me whatsoever. I felt the whole book was lacking, and the “love triangle” part drove me insane. I sadly felt nothing special about this book, which is a shame, since I thought the first book, was pretty awesome and amazing. I don’t really understand all the hype for this book. I can only have hope that Clockwork Princess will be better and not such a let down. My rating for this book is 3/5 stars.

The other day I finished up the book Clockwork Angel by: Cassandra Clare. Now I’m going to begin reading Clockwork Prince. I hope to see the Magister and the Dark Sisters return. I hope to enjoy this book as much as I did the first.

Holy cow. I am in love with Clockwork Angel! Currently I’m on chapter 12 and I’m speechless. I really enjoy this book with all the action in the past two chapters. I was curious to see how that situation panned out. But a “certain thing” surprised me along the past few chapters. Over all I really like this book and I can see me reading the sequel.

Currently Reading: March 3rd, 2013

Today I’m currently reading Clockwork Angel by: Cassandra Clare. I have just finished up till chapter six. First off when I first started reading this book, I thought, “what in the heck am I reading.” The beginning was weird to me and it was so bizarre that it kept me reading. After I got past the Dark Sisters part, I am now beginning to really enjoy this book. I feel like I’m really going to love the character Will only because he seems like Jace in City of Bones.
