Hello and welcome back to Blogmas Day #2! 🙂 Today I will be talking about my stats so far for 2019.
So first stats that are up, pages. So far this year I have read the 3rd most amount of pages since I first started tracking my reading in 2012. When I first came into this year and started my new (and current) job, I didn’t know how much time I would have for reading. I ended up having more time than I thought I would and I exceeded my goal of 24 books.
Next up I have the shortest and longest books. I read Pete the Cat: Five Little Pumpkins. This was not only the shortest book I have read this year but possibly the worst. And the complete opposite for the longest book. Obsidio was one of my favorite reads and a great wrap up to the trilogy. The average length of pages per book is down from previous years since I have been reading more children’s, graphic novels, and comic books.
Last but not least the most and least popular books I read this year. It does not surprise me that a Rick Riordan book would make the most popular list, but sad to see an Archie comic is the least popular. Which maybe explains why they haven’t released any more Archie comics in that series. And the average rating and highest rated on Goodreads also does not surprise me for 2019. Looking back so far I’ve had an amazing reading year compared to others.
Check back in 2020 for updated stats and wrap-ups for 2019! What is your longest and shortest books of 2019 so far? I’ll check back in tomorrow with a brand new topic and post!
December 2019 is finally here! This past year has flown by so fast and I can’t believe we are here already. Since it’s December that can only mean one thing? BLOGMAS! Throughout my years on the internet, I used to watch a lot of videos on YouTube this time a year called Vlogmas where a person vlogs every single day up until Christmas. I’ve contemplated the idea the past few years and if I actually wanted to make that commitment. But I just don’t have that much of an exciting life. I wake up, go to work, come home, eat food, and just lay around until I do it all over again.
So this year I decided to do Blogmas! I will be attempting to blog every day up until Christmas! The first topic I want to cover in today’s blog, Books I Want to Read by 2020. So what books do I want to read in the next 31 days? I want to read two young adult novels, a poetry book, a comic collection, and a graphic novel.
What books are on your TBR or want to read list? Are you planning to participate in Blogmas this year? Let me know in the comment section down below! And I will be back tomorrow with a new blog post! 🙂
I think this Top Ten Tuesday topic is perfect for this week, month, and season. I typically don’t eat or drink things because I don’t want greasy fingers on my pages or have the chance of accidentally spilling something on my books. BUT the fall season is the perfect season for me to drink while reading. Here are my top 5 favorite things to drink while reading.
- Dunkin’ Pumpkin Spice Iced Coffee
- Apple Cider
- Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher from Starbucks
- Caramel Iced Coffee
- Sweet Tea
See everyone next week for another Top Ten Tuesday post! 🙂
Ugh. I’ve been sick. I’ve had allergies. But AT LAST, I finally feel better. And it’s wonderful to not have a Kleenex shoved up my nose 24/7. Last week I did not get a lot of reading done due to being sick and sleeping. Then over the weekend, I went to the Iowa State Fair for the first time ever which was a fun weekend adventure to get away from everything. I saw the cutest baby cow (pictured below), ate a bunch of fried food, and saw lots of animals. But now that my body is under control, I finally got to sit down and read for a half-hour tonight. And man did it feel refreshing. I got sucked back into Magnus Chase, which I’m enjoying at the moment. According to Goodreads, I’m only 34% complete with this book. This is a frustrating spot where I don’t want to be in for this month since it is the NEWTS readathon and I’m trying to get a lot of reading accomplished. But my plan for the rest of the week is to take care of myself, cook lots of homemade meals, exercise, and read to stay healthy and not fall back into a week of misery again! Below is the progress so far for this month.
Long time no see blog! It feels like it’s been ages since I last updated you guys on here (8 months to be exact!). Recently I’ve had the urge to come back and start making posts again!
This past weekend I was lucky enough to be able to attend BookCon 2017 which was held in New York City, New York. Being from a small town in Iowa and going to New York City was a huge experience for me! This was my second BookCon that I have attended (my first time attending was in 2016 in Chicago). This was also very different from last year because last year it was over one day while this year was over two days. If I had to rate BookCon 2017 it would be 3.75/5 stars. Day 1 I got some amazing titles and went to a signing, but I didn’t get much compared to last year. Day 2 was a completely different story, and I got a ton of stuff especially from the Scholastic booth! I did, however, feel that publishers weren’t handing out as many ARCs (Advanced Readers Copies) this year. I know the Epic Reads area was a mess and a mosh pit for lining up and trying to receive ARCs when they were dropping and it was a less fun version of Disney World at that point.
Even though it wasn’t like last year’s BookCon, it was still an absolute blast! I finally got to meet up with BookTubers that I have been watching for years and I was reunited with friends I made last year! Overall I can’t wait to get into all the ARCs and chapter samples I received this year at BookCon!
Since I got a bunch of goodies on day 2 of BookCon I decided to host TWO giveaways on Libib’s BookTube channel. Rules are…
- Must be 18 or have parents permission
- MUST live in the U.S.
- Must be subscribed to Libib’s channel
- And last but not least leave a comment for one or both giveaways
May the odds be ever in your favor and I will see you soon with a new bookish post!
So this month has been ultimately crazy. With projects on projects and prom, I’ve been busy up to the brink. But here’s the bad thing that comes with all of this craziness, no reading time what so ever. Yeah, I haven’t enjoyed the books I’ve read this year and lack of free time is not helping my feelings for the books that I am currently reading. I just feel reading is more of a chore than a fun free time activity for myself.
For the next month I plan on reading a bunch more. My last day of school is quickly approaching which brings the positive side; more time to read! I’ve picked a few books from my contemporary section so that hopefully this can get me back into my love for reading. The books are…
1. Eleanor & Park by: Rainbow Rowell
2. My Life Next Door by: Huntley Fitzpatrick
3. Twisted by: Sara Shepard
4. And continue reading A Geeks Guide to Dating by: Eric Smith
I don’t know what’s up with my reading lately and I think I just need to take a break from all distractions and school work to just feel no pressure at all, and get back into the swing of my love for reading.
