Graphic Novel Book Haul

Graphic novels have slowly become my favorite type of books to read. They’re short, sweet, entertaining, and easier to reach my yearly reading goal haha. Here are some of the graphic novels I recently purchased and some are even perfect for summer!

Do you read graphic novels? If so, what’s your favorite graphic novel?

Cheers bookish friends!

Read with Me: Narwhal: Unicorn of the Sea

I FINALLY read the first book in the Narwhal series by Ben Clanton. I love this series SO MUCH. It’s a fun tail about our friends Narwhal and Jelly and the adventures they’re on, fun facts, and even a short comic. This series is perfect for kids aged 6-9!

What’s your favorite childhood book/book series?

Cheers bookish friends!

Anticipated Summer Releases

It’s finally summer time! Looking back the 1st Tuesday in May was one of the biggest release dates in publishing. But this year it looks like everything moved to the 1st Tuesday in June. Here are my top 6 books being released from June-August!

Do you have any summer releases you are excited for? Or all your anticipated releases happening this fall?

Cheers bookish friends!

Was boarding school supposed to be this hard?

When studious thirteen-year-old Juniper wins a scholarship to the prestigious Ellsmere Academy, she expects to find a scholastic utopia. But living at Ellsmere is far from ideal: She is labeled a “special project,” Ellsmere’s queen bee is out to destroy her, and it’s rumored that a mythical beast roams the forest next to the school.

Summary from Goodreads.com

My Thoughts:

I think Faith Erin Hicks is one of my new favorite graphic novelists. I really enjoy her artwork and colors during this novel and Pumpkinheads. There’s something about her illustrations and pastel colors that just makes me hypnotized. I also thought this book was perfect to read during this time as everyone is heading back to school. The boarding school setting just screams fall vibes. I overall really enjoyed this graphic novel and I will be giving it a 4/5 stars. I can’t wait to see what Faith Erin Hicks does next!

Anticipated 2020 Summer Releases!

I’m beyond thrilled that the start of summer is finally here! After being cooped up in the house for the winter season and especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, I’m excited to soak up some sun and some awesome books. I’ve compiled a list of books that are being released this summer that I’m stoked for. My video below goes into more detail but a few titles I can mention are The Ballard of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins and Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer. Did any of my books make it on your list?

2019 Stats (So Far) // Blogmas #2

Hello and welcome back to Blogmas Day #2! 🙂 Today I will be talking about my stats so far for 2019.

So first stats that are up, pages. So far this year I have read the 3rd most amount of pages since I first started tracking my reading in 2012. When I first came into this year and started my new (and current) job, I didn’t know how much time I would have for reading. I ended up having more time than I thought I would and I exceeded my goal of 24 books.

2019 Page Count

Next up I have the shortest and longest books. I read Pete the Cat: Five Little Pumpkins. This was not only the shortest book I have read this year but possibly the worst. And the complete opposite for the longest book. Obsidio was one of my favorite reads and a great wrap up to the trilogy. The average length of pages per book is down from previous years since I have been reading more children’s, graphic novels, and comic books. 2019-page.jpg

Last but not least the most and least popular books I read this year. It does not surprise me that a Rick Riordan book would make the most popular list, but sad to see an Archie comic is the least popular. Which maybe explains why they haven’t released any more Archie comics in that series. And the average rating and highest rated on Goodreads also does not surprise me for 2019. Looking back so far I’ve had an amazing reading year compared to others.

Books I Want to Read by 2020 // Blogmas #1

December 2019 is finally here! This past year has flown by so fast and I can’t believe we are here already. Since it’s December that can only mean one thing? BLOGMAS! Throughout my years on the internet, I used to watch a lot of videos on YouTube this time a year called Vlogmas where a person vlogs every single day up until Christmas. I’ve contemplated the idea the past few years and if I actually wanted to make that commitment. But I just don’t have that much of an exciting life. I wake up, go to work, come home, eat food, and just lay around until I do it all over again.

So this year I decided to do Blogmas! I will be attempting to blog every day up until Christmas! The first topic I want to cover in today’s blog, Books I Want to Read by 2020.  So what books do I want to read in the next 31 days? I want to read two young adult novels, a poetry book, a comic collection, and a graphic novel.

What books are on your TBR or want to read list? Are you planning to participate in Blogmas this year? Let me know in the comment section down below! And I will be back tomorrow with a new blog post! 🙂
